Abstrakty

Kryzys bankowo-finansowy pokazał, że w dotychczasowym modelu biznesowym i szerzej, rynkowym, wiele banków - głównie w USA i Europie Zachodniej, działało źle. W czasach dobrej koniunktury banki miały bardzo dobre wyniki finansowe - to dowód, że nadużywały swojej pozycji monopolistycznej. (fragment tekstu)

The main objective of the article is to present some selective questions concerning the theories and paradigms created within the science of finance, especially in banking. The ethics in banking is of supreme importance for the economy and the society. The science of finance, like the economic sciences in general, are justly defined as "the most precise science of all the imprecise ones and the most imprecise science of all the precise ones". It seems that structural and institutional changes in the present-day finance and banking are too sophisticated to be covered by one theory and one paradigm. It is not feasible to create one theoretical construction to describe phenomena so variable and occurring in the reality that is risky and imperfect, and the information is not complete. As a result there will still be several models (medium range theories and paradigms), partly completing each other, and partly competing against each other. (original abstract)
