Niemal w każdej z licznych, a dostępnych pozycji literaturowych można się spotkać z inną typologią rozwoju systemów informatycznych wspomagających zarządzanie. Nastąpił więc w tej sferze kompletny chaos terminologiczny, dlatego - po zauważeniu takiej potrzeby - w niniejszej pracy podjęto kolejną próbę uporządkowania tej sfery opartą na tendencjach integracyjnych z jednej strony, a z drugiej na tendencjach konwergencyjnych (upodobniania się i przenikania implementacji) umożliwionych przez ciągły postęp technologiczny. The main objective of this article is to present the idea of the development of information systems consisting in the integration and convergence approach. After a short introduction which includes definitions of the main concepts used in the analysis, the author presents the development of information systems through the prism of three main development paths: the increasing complexity of logical systems structure, functional integration and the expansion of the infrastructure of network systems. The integration consisted mainly in solving technical problems connected with the construction of systems (hardware, system software, system applications, and network infrastructure) and logical problems - looking for organizational and functional solutions. The convergence - the cyclical operation carried out on an increasingly higher level - assimilation and adapting the systems to the current requirements of the end user. The meeting of tendencies and all the development paths occurs at a corporate level. In the final part of the article, the author presents a summary and draws conclusions based on the findings.
