Presently it is reasonable to define the environment of finance as turbulent. Nevertheless analysis of relations between finance and its complex surrounding in polish literature rarely focuses on very important element of this surrounding, which is the natural environment. On the contrary, foreign literature contains number of positions dedicated to explore connections between finance and the natural environment. This article aims at contributing relevant arguments to the discussion over the need for developing new discipline of finance - environmental finance. In particular, it aims at providing convincingarguments for terminology of the discipline, with the explanation of basic terms, as well as discussing the possible areas of domain researches. Współcześnie kwestie środowiskowe oddziałują na gospodarkę. "Finanse środowiskowe" to termin oznaczający instrumenty i koncepcje finansowe tworzone w celu sprostania współczesnym wyzwaniom środowiskowym. Ważną sekcją finansów środowiskowych są finanse węglowe. Obszar badawczy finansów środowiskowych jest złożony i zawiera finanse publiczne przedsiębiorstw, bankowość, rynki finansowe i ubezpieczenia. Największym wyzwaniem jest to, że finanse środowiskowe są powiązane z etyką, co stwarza wymóg rozwinięcia nowych metod i narzędzi w celu prowadzenia badań w obszarze finansów środowiskowych. Specyfika przedmiotu badania oraz instrumentarium sprawiają, iż finanse środowiskowe należy uznać za odrębną dyscyplinę finansów. (abstrakt oryginalny)
