Abstrakty

Globalizacja jako złożone zjawisko ekonomiczne i polityczne współczesnego świata, kreujące i stymulujące zarazem rozwój gospodarki globalnej, wpływa na wszystkie sfery aktywności gospodarczej realizowanej w tym megasystemie. Jedną z nich jest transport morski, który z jednej strony poddany jest silnemu oddziaływaniu procesów globalizacji, a z drugiej sam na nie wpływa i je współkształtuje. Autor na bazie analizy wzajemnych współzależności istniejących z jednej strony między rozwojem handlu światowego i handlu morskiego oraz czynnikami kształtującymi ich wielkość i dynamikę w ostatnim dziesięcioleciu a rozwojem światowej floty handlowej i przewozów drogą morską z drugiej, podejmuje próbę: 1) wskazania podstawowych tendencji istniejących w tym zakresie oraz 2) określenia efektów globalizacji dla sektora transportu morskiego i siły jego wpływu na procesy globalizacji oraz rozwój globalnych łańcuchów dostaw. Z analizy tej wynika, że transport morski nie tylko nie stanowi bariery rozwoju globalizacji i globalnych łańcuchów dostaw oraz wzrostu gospodarki globalnej, ale wręcz procesy te utrwala i stymuluje.(abstrakt oryginalny)

Globalization is in its nature a very complex economic and political phenomenon of the contemporary world. It both creates and stimulates the global economy development, simultaneously influencing all spheres of activity carried out in this mega-system. The maritime transport belongs to one of them. On the one hand, it is exposed to a strong impact of the globalization processes and, on the other, the maritime transport itself affects these processes. The author analyses the relations existing between the world merchandise trade and the seaborne trade as well as a group of factors determining their dynamics and dimension in terms of value and volume on the one hand, and the world tonnage development as well as the quantity of goods transported by sea on the other. In such a way he attempts to: 1. identify and indicate some basic tendencies existing in this field of the global economy, 2. define a substantial effect of globalization for the maritime transport sector and its impact on the globalization processes and the development of the global supply chains. As a result, it can be pointed out that the maritime transport does not provide any barriers to further development of globalization, the world economy and global supply chains. Moreover, it has a great potential not only to stabilize their development, but also to strengthen and stimulate them on the global scale.(original abstract)
