Abstrakty

Scharakteryzowano manifesty wyborcze trzech ugrupowań partyjnych: konserwatystów (Europejska Partia Ludowa - EPP), liberałów (Partia Europejskich Liberałów, Demokratów i Reformatorów - ELDR) i socjalistów (Partia Europejskich Socjalistów - PES). Szczegółowo przeanalizowano poszczególne punkty manifestów, zwracając szczególną uwagę na kwestie wspólne i rozbieżności.

For the past three decades the people of EU member-states have been electing deputies to the European Parliament. Although the competition takes place every five years at the national stage, nevertheless, the large political families associated in party federations, the "European Parties", draw up election manifestos for this occasion. These documents symbolize the unity and agreement between national parties as to the course Europe's development should take. As such, they seem worthy of being analyzed as they present the directions mapped out by the conservatives, liberals and socialists. What is also important, election manifestos are a point of departure for political debates once the parliamentary factions are constituted. Similar postulates stand a chance of being implemented, opposing views can be discussed, and those which are left unsaid, remain that way. This is why, an analysis of manifestos represents a documented prognosis for the future. (original abstract)
