Etyka stanowi duże wyzwanie dla PR jako obszaru działania, a w szczególności praktyków PR. Jest wiele aspektów analizy etycznego wymiaru PR. Za rolą etyki dla PR może przemawiać fakt zwiększania zaufania społecznego do tego typu działalności dzięki bardziej etycznym decyzjom. Dążenie do profesjonalizmu w zakresie PR jest nieodłącznie związane z kwestiami etycznymi. Kodeksy etyczne PR są odpowiedzią na etyczne dylematy w zakresie Public Relations, mają również pomóc praktykom, gdyż dają możliwość powołania się na nie i uzyskania podstawy legitymizacji dla swoich działań. (...) Z etycznymi aspektami PR wiążą się także kwestie typów i modeli etyki, a także ideologii etycznej - wszystkiego tego, co daje podstawy teoretyczne do wyjaśniania i porządkowania tych kwestii. Wśród wielu ważnych zagadnień przedstawionych w tym artykule warto zwrócić uwagę na ewolucję procesu komunikacji PR, co nie pozostawało bez wpływu na znaczenie etyki w public relations.
