Under the present economic and technological conditions, innovation activity led by transnational corporations (TNCs) comes into prominence as a factor of competitiveness, while undergoing considerable changes. Complex changes in the innovation activity of TNCs lead to an increasing external orientation and to the forming of an open innovation model. As a basis, a double-network organization model is developed, which includes both own corporate R+D centers or subsidiaries as well as independent, external partners. A small number of R+D centers has been set up in Poland to tap to a local pool of skilled staff. However, the so far unfavorable domestic conditions for raising innovativeness have impeded the expansion of the innovation activity of TNCs in our country. (original abstract)
