Business cycles are now a commonly accepted pattern of economic activity. Reasons beyond current economic cross were, however, far more complicated. They included both systemic failures and coincidence of occurrences, which resulted in tremendous scope and intensity of the crisis. Both circumstances of current economic crisis have an impact on response policies available. Whereas simultaneous event that led to an economic downturn required a tactical response, a strategic vision is indispensable for systemic reconstruction. The role of the G20, the most important global economic policy coordination platform, evolved accordingly: from a crisis committee to a true economic governance centre. Article analysis transformation of the G20 since 2008 in light of specific factors and general features of the current economic crisis. (original abstract)
