Omówiono tendencje zmian w udziale kobiet wśród studentów oraz zmiany w strukturze kształcenia kobiet według kierunków studiów. Następnie przedstawiono liczbę kobiet wśród nauczycieli akademickich.

The tendency of changes which for 18 years have been occurring in Poland in higher education of women, have been discussed. In the years 1970-1987 the proportion of women to the total of higher school students rose from 42,3 per cent to 51,3 per cent. This is a proof of the progressive feminization of higher education. It concerns especially the hitherto highly feminized lines, such as the Arts and Mathematical and Natural Science Faculties. The structural analysis of the education of women, according to the lines of specialization, has shown that women (men as well) are much more interested in the Arts and medicine than in technical studies. The paper is also illustrative of the changes in the dynamics of the number of students according to the sex and forms of education. The reasons of considerable quantitative decrease in the years 1977-1987 have been discussed. Finally, the problem of changes in the proportion of women to the total of higher school teachers is discussed as well as the determinants of their social advancement, both with respect to the scientific career and appointment to managerial posts at higher schools are presented. Many problems touched in the paper have been shown by weans of comparison with other, both socialist and capitalist, economically advanced countries. (original abstract)
