Od lat 80. XX wieku trwa renesans zainteresowania wzrostem gospodarczym. Dokonana została identyfikacja instytucji, które państwo powinno tworzyć, przestrzegać, chronić i wzmacniać, by stymulować rozwój i wzrost dobrobytu kraju. Bliżej przeanalizowane zostały cztery główne instytucje, tj.: wolność gospodarcza, własność, praworządność (rządy prawa, rule of law) i demokracja. Na podstawie przeglądu literatury zostały omówione związki między tymi instytucjami a tempem wzrostu gospodarczego.

In the 80s of the 20th century an interest in economic growth reappeared and its main determinant - the Total Factor Productivity (TFP). Among the many factors that influence the increase in TFP, the role of the state is particularly emphasised. The purpose of this paper is to present a discussion about the relations between "good governance" and the economic growth. Government institutions that should be created, obeyed, protected and strengthened to stimulate the economic growth have been identified. Four of them have been analysed in detail: economic freedom, ownership, rule of law and democracy. The relationship between those institutions and economic growth has been discussed on the basis of the review of the relevant literature.(original abstract)
