Konkurencja i rywalizacji dwóch głównych producentów samolotów cywilnych przerodziła się w spór handlowy na forum Światowej Organizacji Handlu (WTO). W połowie 2010 r. opublikowany został raport panelu, który uznał różne formy subsydiowania spółki Airbus za niezgodne z zasadami WTO. Unia Europejska złożyła apelację do raportu panelu. UE oczekuje również na rozstrzygnięcia innego panelu, rozpatrującego skargę w prawie subsydiów, których beneficjentem jest Boeing. (fragment tekstu)
In 2004, the United States initiated under the WTO auspices the dispute against the EU and certain its member states concerning subsidies provided to the Airbus companies for the development of new models of civil large aircraft. The US claims that most launch aid, a number of infrastructure projects built or upgraded exclusively for Airbus and the loans provided to Airbus company by the European Investment Bank on preferential terms are subsidies inconsistent with the rules established by the WTO Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures. On the US request, the Dispute Settlement Body established in July 2005 a panel to examine this matter. The panel submitted the final report in March 2010. The WTO panel found that the launch aid provided by certain EU members for the new Airbus aircraft caused adverse effects to the interests of the US and are subsidies violating WTO rules. The panel also concluded that certain launch measures provided by the German, Spanish and UK administrations for the A380 project are subsidies contingent in fact upon anticipated export performance and therefore are prohibited export subsidies. The EU appealed in July 2010 against the panel's ruling. According to the EU, the publication of the panel report marked the end of the first stage of litigation and the appeal initiates the second phase of the case. (abstrakt oryginalny)
