Zdolność absorpcyjna od ponad 20 lat cieszy się zainteresowaniem badaczy. Trudno jednak to zainteresowanie określić mianem spektakularnego. Obszar ten nadal wymaga eksploracji. W artykule dokonano przeglądu publikacji oraz badań empirycznych poświęconych zdolności absorpcyjnej oraz podjęto się określenia i oceny obecnego stanu teorii i badań empirycznych dotyczących zdolności absorpcyjnej. The aim of this article is to present a state of our current knowledge in the absorptive capacity subject. This article also focuses on research challenges in the management subjects in the context in the absorptive capacity. Author analyzed 85 publications reviewed. Included publications from the years 1989-2011. The choice of subject of research was carried out by using selected keyword, and full-text databases-reviewed publications and abstracts. The review of publications and empirical studies on the absorptive capacity of knowledge allows the formulation of conclusions and observations. The literature studies (desk research) has reviewed several items, including a Polish-and English-language articles and studies of compact books. Due to the fact that the subject matter knowledge absorption capacity in Poland is still relatively poorly described and examined in the wide use of foreign literature. It was found that one of the causes of discrepancies and the lack of scientific consensus is the intangible nature of knowledge absorption capacity, the difficulty of measuring and identifying differences in the scope of meaning in different contexts and conditions of the organization. These conclusions carry implications for further research. They point to the vulnerability research, then what is the rationale for continuing studies on the determinants of absorptive capacity of knowledge, determine the need to explain the diversity, which leads to organizational learning, innovation, organization, its improvement and efficiency and effectiveness. It is one of the fundamental learning abilities that organizations can develop to detect knowledge and information outside the organization that may be useful to them and then to internalize and adapt that information to their specific needs and exploit it for market goals.
