Many researches prove that social competences are the one of the most important predictors of success in managerial environment. The article presents the findings of empirical research and shows differences between competences level in two groups of managers. Theoretical frame of the study is based on Robert Sternberg`s theory of successful intelligence. In this research project were examined 182 participants of programme " Warsaw - the Capital of Dynamic Business". We compared the participants of this programme with group of effective and experienced managers. The results have showed differences between the level of practical intelligence, and managerial competences: self-management, management of others, tasks in these groups. (original abstract)
