The article presents an integrated approach to the product environmental impact at all stages of its life cycle, implemented within the European Union policy to promote sustainable patterns of production and consumption. In the first part of the article the author points out the need to separate the interdependence between economic growth and increase of resource consumption and negative environmental impact. Further on, the integrated product policy is discussed with the regard to its genesis, principles and instruments of implementation. (original abstract)

W artykule przedstawiono zintegrowane podejście w zakresie oddziaływania produktu na środowisko na wszystkich etapach jego cyklu życia, realizowane w ramach polityki Unii Europejskiej promującej zrównoważone wzorce produkcji i konsumpcji. W pierwszej części artykułu wskazano na potrzebę rozdzielenia współzależności wzrostu gospodarczego od wzrostu zużycia zasobów i negatywnego wpływu na środowisko. Następnie omówiono zintegrowaną politykę produktową z uwzględnieniem genezy jej powstania, zasad i instrumentów wdrażania. (abstrakt oryginalny)
