Abstrakty

Multi-layered nature of research on politics in organizations makes that this issue is a difficult area of theoretical reflection. The purpose of this paper is to organize scientifically important issues, such as understanding of politics (especially in the psycho-social trend of the organization theory), the issue of multidimensionality of this construct and methodological problems of studying the process of politics in organizations. The last objectives the authors have is to critically review major theoretical and empirical achievements, as well as the issue of measuring the phenomenon, which has enabled them to identify cognitive gaps, and which above all has highlighted the distinct deficiency of analyses of organizational politics conducted on the level of the whole organization as the findings of the research done so far show that politics is measured and evaluated primarily at the level of individuals or groups of individuals(original abstract)
