The article describes the influence of certain characteristics of group structure social capital- on leadership style. Ability to generate social capital is in my opinion a very important element of set of leadership competence belonging to a leader, described by social scientists as natural. One can think of a thesis that there is a relationship between social capital and leadership style of such nature that the higher is the leader's ability to generate this social resource among his followers, the more often their participation in decision making and setting team goals and tasks is of a key meaning. Therefore a leader who is equipped with a set of key social competence will prefer democratic leadership style as defined by Rensis Likert's theory. (original abstract)
