To become more competitive, the hierarchical and bureaucratic type of business organisation has given way to more freewheeling structures. This article considers the major factors behind the move to a New Global Economy. It examines the links between technological innovation, electronic commerce and networked computing, and describes the X-Retroengineering and Reengineering management tools. (fragment of text)
