Wstęp Apostoł narodów, apostoł pogan, pierwszy i wielki teolog, twórca wchrystologii, chrześcijański myśliciel, kościelny organizator, religijny bohater, niewolnik Chrystusa Pana1 - to tylko niektóre spośród określeń, jakich używano wobec św.

Summarizing one can state that the people had been wandering since their own primordial origin. Only in the Neolithic Period (10th to 8th century BC) a revolutionary change took place. People resigned from their wandering life and started settling down. Nevertheless it has for ever remained a tendency to wander, and one can therefore say that there can be discovered many traces in the different cultures and religions. In the Old Testament Israel first arrived in Egypt and later on they continued on to Canaan at Yahweh's mighty hand. Also many prophets were wandering. Jesus himself taught during wandering around and the whole literary plan of Luke´s Gospel is designed after Jesus´ wandering. So Jesus´ disciples walked to Emmaus after his death and the apostles went to Galilee after the resurrection to meet the risen Lord. At the end of this endless series of wandering human beings one can also add Paul. The content of the article shows much evidence confirming this fact, e.g. thousands of kilometers walked or swum by the apostle, the companionship of wandering or driving people, the return trips to places of departure, the interest in the culture of the places of arrival (Philippi, Athens), the announcements of one´s own opinions, the making use of the hospitality (Lydia, prison guard), the establishment of amicable relations (visits and subsequent correspondence), and so on. Therefore it seems without exaggeration in fact possible to call Paul, the great New Testament Wanderer (see Homo Viator after G. Marcel), a "tourist". Of course, the use of this term is anachronistical.(original abstract)
