Today's trends in road transportation are showing an increase of performances and an abundant amount of cars on the roadways. The capacity of existing roadways is no longer reaching demands and the whole situation for long term is insufficient. In Europe, roadways are overtaking more than 90% of performances in passenger transport and 70% by transit of the goods and materials. Effective and sufficient development of roadway activities should be focused on cooperative needs instead of meeting individual needs. In the past, solving transportation problems was dealt by building additional roadways. Today, it's known, this is not the only method for eliminating transportation problems. Applications of new/progressive tolls from high-tech technologies are improving the transportation system more efficiently with better benefits and higher safety. One method satisfies environmental expectations and efficienty in financial requirements within the road transport. ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) or Transport Telematics - are important tools in transport management. ITS is successfully solving a wide spectrum of transportation problems. Many of the technical issues for ITS implementation for new EU members are common, but the existing barriers slow down the process of the ITS implementation. Quality infrastructure is a basic requirement for any transportation strategy. Insufficient investments in the time of country's transformation and increased motorization are warnings for future economic development. (fragment of text)
