Abstrakty

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest wskazanie na podstawie dostępnych źródeł statystyki publicznej krajów członkowskich Unii Europejskiej oraz raportów firm komercyjnych wybranych tendencji w konsumpcji turystycznej w XXI wieku widocznych w krajach UE. Tendencje te omówione są w szerszym kontekście wybranych zjawisk występujących po stronie popytu turystycznego w XXI wieku na świecie.(fragment tekstu)

The article presents chosen factors determining touristic consumption in EU-27 countries. The author concentrates the attention on demographic and market factors in particular. Basing on current Eurostat reports as well as the reports of commercial companies researching touristic market, the author discusses the tendencies in touristic consumption of EU countries and the new examples of the tourists' behaviour such as: more holiday trips, but shorter stays, growing interest in last-minute travel and low-cost offers, growth in independent travel at the expense of package tours, search for direct, unfi ltered and more "conscious" contact with nature and the environment, desire to gain a real and authentic experience of places, development of new cultural horizons (living culture), interest in local customs, folklore and resources etc. Final part of the article is dedicated to analysis of leading generators of international tourism in Europe in terms of EU countries and its residents with the highest tourism expenditure and the biggest number of nights spent.(original abstract)
