(fragment tekstu)
The city of Cologne is one of the German cities whit high shares of ethnic minorities (table 1). In 2003 the monitory population amounting to 177,9 thousands - 17,4% of all city dwellers. The changes in the composition of the minority population shows sill the highest share of Turkish (37,9% of all foreign residents in 2003) and Italians (11,3%) migrants (table 2). To measure the spatial segregation of main sthnic minitories was used index of dissimilarity (ID). Results are presented in Table 3. The dissimilarity index between Germans - Turks and Yugoslavs has increased in last years, whole in case of Greeks and Italians has diminished (table 3). Declining segregation of citizens of West European counties indicates a process of spatial dispersion across the city and assimilation in the host society. However, "new" immigrants (like Yugoslavs) or migrations from counties of distinctly different culture, religion etc (;ike Turks) tend to be more segregated. (original abstract)
