Podstawowym celem przedsiębiorstwa rodzinnego jest maksymalizacja zasobów finansowych rodziny osiągana drogą inwestycji i rozwoju firmy. Realizacja przedsięwzięć inwestycyjnych wymaga odpowiednich kapitałów, które mogą pochodzić z różnych źródeł. Przyjęcie przez przedsiębiorstwo różnych źródeł finansowania jest określone strukturą kapitału, która ma spełniać obecne i przyszłe potrzeby członków rodziny - udziałowców oraz kapitałowe potrzeby samego przedsiębiorstwa. Brak wystarczających środków własnych i typowa dla większości firm rodzinnych strategia finansowa, polegająca na unikaniu kapitałów obcych, grozi zahamowaniem procesów wzrostowych, a to z kolei może zakończyć się utratą wypracowanej pozycji rynkowej i bankructwem. The paper focuses on the generic goal of family firms consisting in maximizing family resources through business development investments. In turn, the implementation of a family business growth strategy involves capital expenditures and taking risk at a given level. Financing the growth strategy in family firms and the level of risk to be taken are determined by such variables like: a family ownership concentration degree, management professionalizing, managerial demographics (age, education level, experience), macroeconomic conditions and the features of a sector the firm operates in.
