Possibilities of the Development of Transport in the Czech Republic

One of the basic sources of transport infrastructure financing is nowadays in the Czech Republic (CR) The State Fund of Transport Infrastructure (SFTI). In 2008 the SFTI will dispose of about 60 milliard Czech crowns (as in 2007). The SFTI is financed from the revenue side of the national budget, privatization, toll charges, tax disis and partly from excese taxes. But these finantial tools are insufficient for financing of the construction, reconstruction and maintenance of the transport infrastructure. Therefore the Czech Republic is searching for additional financial sources as for example the PPP or the securitization. One of chances is the utilization of finances of the EU funds. In the frame of the European Union (EU) programm period 2007-2013 the Ministry of Transport of Czech Republic prepared the Operalional Programme Transport. The programme is created keeping with the basic strategy documents of EU and CR. (fragment of text)
