In recent years financial literacy has gained the interest of various groups including governments, bankers, employers, community interest groups, financial markets, and other organizations, especially in European Union, where members countries are creating join financial market but from other side representing different models of financial markets and level of development of it. (...) The purpose of the study was to assess financial literacy of individual customers in selected European countries. The study was also designed to examine the effect of demographic factors on financial literacy, especially gender, age, education, employment status, work activity and financial situation. In addition, it examined the relationship between financial literacy and the influence of factors affecting a financial decision. (fragment of text)
