Artykuł niniejszy jest moją osobistą refleksją na temat nauki i nauczania języków obcych w Polsce oraz zmian zachodzących w przedmiotowym temacie. Artykuł ten nie jest oparty na żadnych badaniach naukowych, a problematyka związana z tematem została przedstawiona ściśle subiektywnie. Stanowić on jednak może punkt wyjściowy do dyskusji związanej ze sposobami nauczania języków obcych w Polsce po 2004 roku i, między innymi, dlatego został napisany. (fragment tekstu)
The article shows a short history of foreign languages acquisition in Poland through many years. However it is based only on personal experience and general knowledge rather than the statistical data. It refers to the times when Poland was divided into three occupancies then presents the role of a Russian language now and then. It also goes through the times of 80s and 90s when the interest of foreign languages was suppressed by a political situation in Poland but at the same time it was quite popular especially among young people due to their desire to be free and to have the chance to be in contact with the western culture. Finally, the boom for learning foreign languages in Poland is described and the effects of abolishing communism which led to vast changes not only in politics and economics but also in culture and education and consequently to the change of students' motivation to learn foreign languages but also to a great improvement in teaching techniques.
