Managers developing cause-related marketing campaigns (CRM) face the issue of charity selection. The range of possibilities is wide, since not-for profit organizations are keen on cooperation with firms. Thus arises the question, which organization should be supported. Marketing literature shows that the key criteria is company-cause congruence, however research results are not unanimous. Using meta-analysis this paper aims at identifying factors moderating the impact of company-cause congruence on CRM outcomes. The results show that company- cause congruence plays a more important role when a firm actively cooperates with a charity than the help is limited to donations. (original abstract)
