In this study, we assess the determinants of cruise ship passengers and crew members expenditure disembarking in the port of Messina (Sicily, Italy), by applying both linear and concomitant mixture regression models. It is shown that duration of visit, nationality, occupation previous visit to Messina and satisfaction an effect on expenditures and that there are three different profile in expenditure are statistically significant. This study enables one to obtain the necessary information to implement more adequate tourism policies in a fastest growing sector in the travel market. (original abstract)
