Abstrakty

Celem artykułu jest wykazanie, jak liberalizacja wymiany handlowej oddziałuje na przepływy siły roboczej. Realizacja tego celu wymaga w pierwszej kolejności dokonania przeglądu teorii handlu (a także teorii migracji) wskazujących na relację pomiędzy wymianą handlową a migracjami. Punktem wyjścia będzie teoria Heckschera-Ohlina-Samuelsona, zgodnie z którą relacja ta ma charakter substytucyjny. Jak zostanie wykazane, usunięcie założeń przyjętych w tej teorii prowadzi jednak do odmiennych wniosków: przepływ towarów i siły roboczej jest komplementarny co najmniej w krótkim okresie. Do podobnych wniosków skłania przegląd dotychczasowych badań empirycznych, a także analiza kształtowania się emigracji w państwach członkowskich UE, które przystąpiły do niej 1 maja 2004 r.(abstrakt oryginalny)

The aim of this paper is to explore how trade liberalization affects migration flows. This requires, first and foremost, a review of trade and migration theory indicating the relationship between trade and migration. The starting point is the theory of Heckscher - Ohlin - Samuelson, according to which trade and factor flows are substitutes. As it will be shown, the removal of the assumptions made in this theory, however, leads to different conclusions: the flow of goods and labor are complementary at least in the short term. Similar conclusions arise from the review of existing empirical research and analysis of the evolution of migration from the Member States that joined the EU on 1 May 2004.(original abstract)
