(fragment tekstu)

The paper presents selected factors that shape the innovativeness of small companies in the context of the use of business advice. It discusses the influence of factors related to business management, including the quality of management, the experience and the level of knowledge of company managers, the ability to absorb business knowledge, the level of business innovation, and the characteristics of companies (the scale, age, and industry), as well as the impact of the use of business advice on the above-presented factors and the innovativeness of these companies. The conducted statistical analyses of 400 small innovative Polish companies indicate the existence of a significant relationship between the quality of a company's management, its business priorities, as well as its ability to absorb business knowledge and its innovativeness. An indirect impact of business advice services on the innovativeness of these companies has also been confirmed. The ability to absorb business knowledge plays an important role in this respect. There is, however, no significant relationship between a company's innovativeness, its age, scale, and industry in which it operates, or its manager's experience and its competitiveness.(original abstract)
