The essential aim of this paper is to provide general view about present situation in realizing of the innovations in slovak small and middle firms, which operate at slovak market and are component part of slovak woodprocessing industry. Results, which are presented in this paper, are partial outputs of deeper research realized at furniture exhibition in Nitra. The paper deals, how companies and firms use their financial resources for innovations, with, how they understand necessity of innovations and what are their priorities related to innovations. The result of this research is improvement of innovation ability model used nowadays in slovak furniture firms.(original abstract)
