For more than two last decades, entrepreneurial ecosystems have gained significant interest of academia and policy makers. Ecosystems as a metaphor and as a part of socio-economic reality present a challenge for researchers, who have so far focused on their components and attributes. In this paper, the author provides critical reflections on the key literature in the field and aims to identify weaknesses in the current research on entrepreneurial ecosystems, their analytical and conceptual dimensions. The author also concludes the lack of foundation for distinguishing social entrepreneurship ecosystem as a separate type of ecosystem.(original abstract)
