Corporate social responsibility has been one of the most outstanding issue in business literature in the past three decades. A greater number of companies engage on social reporting because of the increasing demand for accountability and transparency. But the costs and benefits of social reporting to corporate financial performance are still a controversial matter. Although there are empirical analyses about this relation, the results are conflicting. The aim of this study is to investigate the relation between corporate social responsibility and financial performance and also provide evidence from Turkey. In this content, the corporate social responsibility, social reporting and social performance is introduced briefly and the literature about the relation between corporate social responsibility and corporate financial performance is reviewed. Also the study presents an empirical analysis on publicly-held companies in Turkey. Regression and correlation analyses are chosen as research method.(original abstract)
