The study‟s aim is to answer the question whether different states of market inclusion interfere with the individual commitment to values of common welfare. Therefore, an empirical investigation is conducted analyzing to which extent imperatives of the market on the one hand and of the societal community on the other are anchored within the normative orientations of actors. Special attention is paid to whether profiles of these normative orientations vary with respect to the market inclusion of individuals. Empirical analyses are conducted with data of a standardized survey carried out with members of the German working population. Methodologically the study is based on multivariate techniques like principle component and cluster analyses as well as on mean comparison tests and contingency table analyses. Analyses show that there is an antagonistic tension between market-induced motives of maximizing profit on the one hand and common welfare orientations on the other. The degree of this tension varies in dependence of the status position of market actors. And common welfare values seem to lose prevalence the more actors referring to their status position are included in the market sphere. The findings presented show that on the individual level a strong commitment to the marketinduced motive of maximizing profit oftentimes does not coincide with a strong shaping of values of common welfare and social responsibility. This affirms the argument that an enhancement of values of social responsibility within the market sphere, as it is for instance proclaimed by the so-called CSR-movement, could be a necessary prerequisite for sustaining common welfare and common goods in contemporary market societies. The article provides an empirically grounded typology of normative orientations of market actors, that has not been published so far. Furthermore it shows for the first time that the normative frames of individual decision making vary in dependence of the market position of actors. (original abstract)
Z tego356 względu podjęto badania empiryczne, analizując, do jakiego stopnia imperatywy rynku z jednej strony, a wspólnota społeczna z drugiej, są zakotwiczone w ramach normatywnej orientacji podmiotów.
