Celem badania było określenie poziomu aktywności fizycznej policjantów z wyszczególnieniem obszarów pracy zawodowej i aktywności sportowo-rekreacyjnej. Elementem różnicującym grupy badawcze była wielkość wskaźnika BMI. W badaniach zastosowano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego z narzędziem badawczym w postaci kwestionariusza ankiety IPAQ - wersja długa. W obliczeniach statystycznych wykorzystano program Statistica 8.1 PL. Obie badane grupy osiągnęły średnio wysoki poziom aktywności fizycznej, bez istotnego zróżnicowania pomiędzy policjantami z wykazaną nadwagą i o prawidłowym wskaźniku masy ciała.

An objective of the study was to determine the level of policemen's physical activity with specification of areas of their professional work as well as sport and recreation activity. The element differentiating the research groups was the value of BMI. In the research, there was applied the method of diagnostic survey with a research tool in the form of survey questionnaire IPAQ, the long version. In statistical calculations, there was used the Statistica 8.1 PL programme. Both groups surveyed reached on average a high level of physical activity, without any significant differentiation between the policemen with displayed overweight and with the proper body mass index. The research findings evidence a proper preparedness, in terms of fitness, of policemen and students of the police school to perform their profession. They are important from the point of view of public security as well as promotion of physical activity aimed at the needs of the policemen vocational group. (original abstract)
