In June 1997 the first Xetra front end was given to the market participants. Since Xetra release 3.0(1998) the whole market functionality and the retail market was implemented. The open architecture of Xetra and the trading functionality is one reason for the success of this electronic trading system. The feature of Xetra to connect Order Management Systems via Values API (Virtual Access Link Using Exchange Services-Application Programming Interface) or via standard software is another reason for the success. In future the electronic trading will revolutionize the capital markets. Efficient market places (for example stock exchanges) whit low transaction costs are necessarry for modern business. That is the reason why there is no way to ignore electronic trading platforms like Xetra. (original abstract)

Oferta architektury programu oraz handlowa funkcjonalność są przyczynami sukcesu tego systemu. Autor stwierdził, że w przyszłości handel elektroniczny zrewolucjonizuje rynki finansowe. Elementami niezbędnymi dla funkcjonowania nowoczesnego biznesu będą sprawnie działające rynki (np.: giełda papierów wartościowych z niskimi kosztami transakcji). (M.P.)
