Content available remote Dynamika apropriacji w procesie internacjonalizacji przedsiębiorstw
100%

Introduction/background: Although internationalization is crucial for SMEs' development little research exists on the relationship between the attributes that create corporate global mindset, and their effects on companies' internationalization. While existing research focuses on the isolated analysis of single factors, this paper introduces a set-theoretic approach, investigating interdependencies of complementarity, efficiency, and novelty among the various factors making up corporate global mindset. Aim of the paper: The study's objectives are to: (1) identify attributes (business postures) relating to corporate global mindset; and (2) identify and evaluate the combinations of corporate global mindset attributes that lead to internationalization behavior. Materials and methods: This study performs a fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fs/QCA) to analyze how corporate global mindset relates to SMEs internationalization. The sample consists of 73 Polish SMEs. Results and conclusions: This study confirms that four different combinations of corporate global mindset attributes can lead to the same outcome - the high degree of internationalization. This research lies in providing an understanding of how different solutions can lead to the same result. This insight is helpful in gaining a deeper understanding of firms' internationalization. The empirical research was to identify the internationalization strategies in the family-owned business and to analyse the internal factors in family-owned business, which can impact the choice of the certain internationalization strategy. The research had a qualitative character. It was conducted on thirty Polish family-owned companies with their headquarters across the whole country. For the research the method of direct interview was used and it was conducted with 30 family-owned companies owners. The interviews lasted from January 2014 to April 2014. The interviews indicate the most common internationalization strategies: strategy of market development and exploration strategy. 25 enterprises owners have indicated those strategies as leading internationalization strategies in the company activity (compare table No.3). 4 of the owners have indicated only the markets development and 10 admit to concentration strategy. Among analysed family-owned enterprises did not appear such internationalization strategies, as defensive strategy, diversification strategy, skimming or dumping strategies. The research has confirmed that family-owned enterprises are characterized by a desire to maintain control over the company in the family hands. This is indicated also by the fact, that in above 30 family-owned enterprises sample, all in 100% are the family property. Up to 25 of family-owned enterprises owners admitted, that when it comes to decision on foreign cooperation the crucial is the ability to control a certain strategy by the family. The control is thought, as an enterprise property or as a possibility of possession a decisive voice, especially in the enterprise strategy. The study allowed us to observe the following relations that may be important for policy makers, family business owners, managers in family businesses and advisors. First of all, the family has a significant influence on the choice of the internationalisation strategy. Evidence also shows that the greater experience in the local market, then the greater is the willingness of undertaking an external expansion. The next generation risen-up in the spirit of the enterprise and educated in the consciousness of existing a global market will end eavour to undertake or develop already started internationalisation. The strong and compact organization causes, that the family-owned companies are more willing to undertake a certain, long-term cooperation. The choices of the international expansion strategies confirmed, that the family-owned enterprises follow the willingness to maintain the control in the family hands, endeavour to minimize the risk and also to establish a long-term forms of cooperation. The presented examination identifies familyowned companies internationalisation strategies and analyzes the internal factors, which determine the choice of the certain strategy. The examination has also shown the relation between the characteristics of family-owned companies and the choice and realization of a certain enterprise internationalization strategy. W artykule zastosowano metodę opisową oraz wykorzystano badania ankietowe przeprowadzone w grupie polskich producentów sektora IT. Z badań wynika, że NEMs mają niewielkie znaczenie w internacjonalizacji polskich przedsiębiorstw sektora IT.
(fragment tekstu)
Objective: The purpose of the paper is to review extant research of firm de-internationalisation processes, considering the changing patterns in international operations, as well as the underlying decision-making logic.Methodology: The paper draws on two process perspectives in management research to refine the understanding of de-internationalisation process and provide a contribution to this still under-researched area. Contrary to many reviews of international management literature, the paper adopts a deductive analytical approach by applying theory-driven process perspectives to diagnose extant research, identify key developments and research gaps. Findings: In particular, decision-making processes still require a deeper exploration. The review provides a synthesis of extant knowledge on the antecedents, patterns and outcomes of de-internationalisation processes, which is of particular. Value Added: By applying two different process approaches known from strategic management research, the paper presents a comprehensive review of existing studies, summarising the current stock of knowledge about both patterns of de-internationalisation and the underlying decision-making logic, and indicating certain gaps therein.Recommendations: The paper ends up with recommendations for future research, which relate to the subject of de-internationalisation processes, i.e. aspects of internationalization strategy which change, as well the nature of the underlying decision-making processes. interest for decision-makers responsible for international expansion.
Objective: The aim of the article is to analyse the mediating effect of internationalisation between socioemotional wealth (SEW) dimensions and family firm performance. Research Design & Methods: The study is quantitative and uses a survey method. A sample of 303 family firms was surveyed from four cities in Pakistan. The partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to assess the relationship between the SEW dimensions and firm performance with internationalisation as the mediating variable. Findings: The findings revealed that internationalisation has a partial mediation with four dimensions of SEW and firm performance. Moreover, the authors propose that the dimensions of SEW in themselves are not negative or positive, but rather their effect becomes such when interacting with certain variables. Implications & Recommendations: The study guided family firm owner-managers to leverage the positive effect of some dimensions of SEW while resolving the negative impact of other dimensions for firm's growth and success. Contribution & Value Added: The study used the individual dimensions of socioemotional wealth from the FIBER scale in contrast to single proxies and higher-order composite SEW construct to analyse the impact of each dimension on firm performance via the mediating effect of internationalisation. Percy i P.W. Korth i O.E. Williamson). Spory dorobek w zakresie dociekań nad procesem internacjonalizacji notuje się w literaturze polskiej. (fragment tekstu)

Innovations play an important role in a company's market activity, influencing its competitive position and corporate performance. A process which has an impact on innovations is internationalisation. While international expansion provides a company with new forms of activity, resources and relationships it seems that it results in creating new types of innovations.(original abstract)
Objective tendency toward socialization of productive forces leads to a new and irreversible phenomenon in contemporary capitalist countries. It consists in internationalization of particular production elements and capital. This phenomenon takes different forms corresponding to consecutive stages of capital circulation (money capital, productive capital, and commodity capital). At all stages a specific role is performed today by multinational companies constituting a monopolistic form of internationalization of the capitalist way of production. They do not lead, however, to a rational international division of labour. They hamper further development of productive forces as well as the internationalization process itself while resources are oftentime wasted.(original abstract)

The internationalisation process has been the subject of numerous research projects since the beginning of the 1970s. However, most attention has focused on analysing the causes and the course of the internationalisation process. To a much lesser degree, attempts have been made to investigate the internationalisation process from the angle of company performance. Companies' behaviour in the internationalisation process in relation to their market orientation has not been analysed, either. On the other hand, it is generally believed that a company's higher level of market orientation has a beneficial influence on its performance. The research project initiated in 2006 intended to identify possible ways companies can behave in the internationalisation process and to verify them from the angle of the results achieved by companies representing various types of behaviour, including market orientation of the companies investigated. The aim of the article is to verify the widely-held view that companies which are more effective on the market are characterised by a higher level of market orientation. The subject of the study includes companies representing various types of behaviour in the internationalisation process. The level of company market orientation is measured with the use of, among others, the Narver and Slater scale. (fragment of text)
Purpose: The aim of the article is to characterize the internationalization of science parks (STP) from a micro perspective, while the main aim of the research was to diagnose the support for the internationalization process of tenant businesses located in polish STP in the context of the development phases of these enterprises. Design/methodology/approach: To achieve the theoretical goal, a critical analysis of the literature was carried out. In the empirical layer, own research was carried out using the diagnostic survey method, in which a research technique in the form of an interview was used according to the author's questionnaire. The study was conducted in the second half of 2022 with the participation of management staff from 18 STPs in Poland (55%). The study was complemented by direct interviews with directors of selected STPs conducted in September 2023. The diagnosis of the internationalization status of science parks was made at one of the four possible levels of analysis, i.e. micro, which was analyzed in the following areas: the size of the population of international companies operating in the STP and the scope of support for the internationalization of the STP for companies. For the purposes of the study, four phases of development of STP tenant enterprises were defined and operationalized based on the criteria indicated in the literature on the subject: pre-incubation, incubation, post-incubation and maturity, and their age and size were also taken into account. Findings: The intensity of services provided by the surveyed STPs in supporting the internationalization of enterprises varied. The research results indicated that parks with the highest share of entities in the maturity phase were, on average, characterized by the highest percentage of entities with foreign capital. However, statistical analysis using linear correlation coefficients and rank correlations did not indicate the existence of significant differences between the share of enterprises active abroad and the development phase of enterprises tenants of parks. However, it was confirmed that the activities undertaken by the park were positively and statistically significantly correlated with the share of enterprises active abroad. Originality/value: The result of the study is an understanding of the phenomenon of STP internationalization in Poland at the micro level in the context of the development phases of tenant enterprises, which is an original approach to this issue and the first study of this type conducted in Poland. Although the research confirmed some of the assumed relationships, some of them were confirmed on the basis of statistical analysis, however, further research should undoubtedly be conducted to take into account other parks operating in Poland, but also to take into account other factors that may determine the process of STP internationalization from a micro perspective.(original abstract)
The article focuses on the process of internationalization of higher education with a special focus on student mobility. Poland in near future will be facing unfavorable demographic changes, which will also affect higher education. Growing competition between countries in attracting new students from abroad is one of the challenges for Poland. One of the most promising markets from the perspective of Poland is Kazakhstan. This country is developing dynamically, investing in human resources which translates into increasing mobility of students. In 2017 less the 700 student from Kazakhstan were studying in Poland, the numbers indicates that there is a lot of space to grow in this area. The authors conducted a survey among Kazakh students regarding their preferences as to the choice of studies abroad. The results indicate the most interesting destinations for students from Kazakhstan and what they expect from studying abroad. (original abstract)
