One approach for encoding the semantics of spatial relations within a declarative programming framework is by systems of polynomial constraints. However, solving such constraints is computationally intractable in general (i.e. the theory of realclosed fields), and thus far the proposed symbolic algebraic methods do not scale to real world problems. In this paper we address this intractability by investigating the use of constructive geometric constraint solving (in combination with numerical optimisation) within the context of constraint logic programming over qualitative spaces, CLP(QS). We present novel geometric encodings for relative orientation and mereotopology relations and show that our encodings are significantly more robust than other proposed approaches for directly encoding inequalities, due to our encodings being based on a standard, well known set of relations encoded as quadratic equations. Our encodings are general (i.e. not implementation specific) and can thus be directly employed in all standard geometric constraint solvers, particularly solvers that are prominent within the Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing communities. We empirically evaluate our approach on a range of benchmark problems from the Qualitative Spatial Reasoning community, and show that our method outperforms other symbolic algebraic approaches to spatial reasoning by orders of magnitude on those benchmark problems (such as Cylindrical Algebraic Decomposition).(original abstract)
Wprowadzamy zmienną sterującą do jawnego schematu różnicowego. W celu weryfikacji wyniku oceniamy błędy lokalne i globalne. Wprowadzenie zmiennej sterującej otwiera możliwość rozwiązywania równań ze sztywnymi i singularnymi perturbacjami z zastosowaniem jawnych schematów. A zatem, poszerzamy zakres stosowania jawnych schematów różnicowych.(abstrakt oryginalny)

In this paper, we study the local existence of weak solutions for parabolic problem involving the fractional p-Laplacian. Our technique is based on the Galerkin method combined with the theory of Young measures. In addition, an example is given to illustrate the main results(original abstract)
In this paper we introduce a new kind of generalized Jacobsthal numbers in a distance sense. We give the identities and matrix representations for them and their connections with the Fibonacci and the Pell numbers. We also describe the interpretations of these numbers in terms of some kind of (k1A1, k2A2, k3A3)-edge colouring and quasi colouring.(original abstract)

Skromne autorskie zamierzenie polega na spopularyzowaniu Księgi zmarłych filozofów - będącej przekładem z angielskiego arcyciekawej pracy Simona Critchleya (ur. 1960) - profesora i kierownika Katedry Filozofii w New School for Social Research - New York. Dane oryginału: The Book of Dead Philosophers, Vintage, First Ed. 2009, ss. 266, paper back.
Currently, representatives of 28 countries form the European Parliament. Their populations are characterized by a large disparity which leads to the need to seek methods of allocating the seats which are not based on proportional methods. They should have fulfilled the conditions of degressive proportionality by 2009. Although scientists have so far offered various solutions in line with the assumptions, MEPs did not take any of them. Furthermore, they changed the interpretation of the new rule in subsequent terms of office. At the same time, they have not determined a composition of the European Parliament which meets the conditions of degressive proportionality. In the paper, the author presents the degressive proportionality principle and analyzes the composition of the European Parliament in 2014-2019 term proposed by MEPs.(original abstract)
In classic calculus increasing functions are considered. The idea of increasing is connected with an interval. In this article the idea of increasing function is connected with a point and some neighbourhood of the point. It is defined as an increasing point of the function. This is proved by the theorem: if each point of an interval is a point of increasing a function then the function is increasing at an interval.(original abstract)
An ellipse, parabola and hyperbola are the curve that can be obtained as the plane section of cone; there are characterizations, one of which is by means of the focus and directrix property. The golden ellipse or the golden hyperbola is the curve, which has golden eccentricity.(original abstract)
In the teaching of calculus, we consider horizontal and slant asymptote. In this paper the idea of asymptote of function is expanded to polynomials. There are given formulas of coefficients of the multinomial asymptote of the function and some examples of parabolic and cubic asymptote.(original abstract)
Let p, q, rbe any three lines in the plane passing through a common point and suppose that O, P, Q, Rare any four collinear points such that P∈ p, Q ∈ q, R ∈ r, Pand Rare harmonic conjugates with respect to Oand Q(that is, │OP│/ │PQ│= │OR│/│QR│). For every k ≥2, we construct a set Xnof n= 4kpoints, which is distributed on the lines p, q, r, but each element of Xnᵕ{O} is incident to at most n/2 lines spanned by Xnᵕ{O}.(original abstract)

The vortex motion is a sign of the desire to achieve balance. In the study, vortices described by complex numbers are moved from a sphere into a "squeezed" sphere - where the pair of opposite poles become one - called a pinched sphere or concave disk. Vortices on the pinched sphere reflect what is commonly observed in nature. A family of the pinched spheres very well represents the spatial vortices observed daily in gusts of wind. Stock market zigzags constitute an economic vortex - a spiral on the cone whose equivalent is the pinched sphere.(original abstract)

The space M(ℝ (x; y)) of real places on ℝ (x; y) is shown to be path-connected. The possible value groups of these real places are determined and for each one it is shown that the set of real places with that value group is dense in the space. Large collections of subspaces of the space M(ℝ (x; y)) are constructed such that any two members of such a collection are homeomorphic. A key tool is a homeomorphism between the space of real places on ℝ((x))(y) and a certain space of sequences related to the "signatures" of [2], which themselves are shown here to be related to the "strict systems of polynomial extensions" of [3]. The main purpose of this paper is to establish some common fixed point theorems for single and set-valued maps in complete metric spaces, under contractive conditions by using minimal type commutativity and without continuity. These theorems generalize, extend and improve the result due to Elamrani and Mehdaoui ([2]) and others. Also, common fixed point theorems in metric spaces under strict contractive conditions are given. (original abstract)
The alienation phenomenon of ring homomorphisms may briefly be described as follows: under some reasonable assumptions, a map $f$ between two rings satisfies the functional equation $$(*) f(x + y) + f(xy) = f(x) + f(y) + f(x)f(y)$$ if and only if $f$ is both additive and multiplicative. Although this fact is surprising for itself it turns out that that kind of alienation has also deeper roots. Namely, observe that the right hand side of equation (*) is of the form $Q(f(x), f(y))$ with the map $Q(u, v) = u+v+uv$ being a special rational associative operation. This gives rise to the following question: given an abstract rational associative operation $Q$ does the equation $$f(x + y) + f(xy) = Q(f(x), f(y))$$ force $f$ to be a ring homomorphism (with the target ring being a field)? Plainly, in general, that is not the case. Nevertheless, the 2-homogeneity of $f$ happens to be a necessary and sufficient condition for that effect provided that the range of $f$ is large enough.
