(fragment tekstu)
Treść i dynamikę debaty nad rolą różnorodności w kształtowaniu jakości życia społecznego, ekonomicznego i politycznego wyznaczyły płeć i rasa. David A. Thomas i Robin J. Ely wyróżniają trzy paradygmaty różnorodności: paradygmat asymilacji, paradygmat różnorodności, paradygmat integracji. (fragment tekstu)

Content available remote Diversity from the European Perspective
100%
Over the last years, the world "diversity" has become a meaningful part of the language and management in the European companies. The purpose of this article is to reflect on the way diversity was being defined and conceptualized in the last centuries. It intends to contribute to the re-conceptualization of diversity, i.e. to the move away from the essentialistic approach in which diversity is perceived as a fixed essence to a more dynamic one in which diversity results from a particular context. (fragment tekstu)
Kodeks pracy i polskie ustawodawstwo w sposób spójny i kompleksowy reguluje kwestie dyskryminacji, równości w zatrudnieniu, a także ochrony określonych grup pracowników (osób w okresie przedemerytalnym, korzystających z uprawnień rodzicielskich, ciężarnych). (fragment tekstu)

Diversity among employees can become, if properly managed, a source of success and financial gains for an organisation. In an organisation with a diversified age structure the probability for operational effectiveness and strategic success increases with the introduction of personalistic management. Basing your management on personalistic principles and pragmatism is an added value that guarantees maximum benefits for every stakeholder without discriminating and abusing anyone. The success, finally, always has personal a dimension, as it dynamises the stakeholders to fully utilise their potential. The probability of success on the field of diversity management increases with the implementation of personalistic behaviour and principles to corporate culture. Personalistic management is fully coherent with diversity management, especially on the field of age diversity. It also magnifies the effect of synergy. (original abstract)
The Polish BPO and SSC sector is characterised by a fact that many enterprises from this sector come from countries representing North America or Western Europe. In practice, it means the inflow of knew knowledge, capabilities, know-how, procedures, innovative ways of acting and attitude towards challenges offered by the market. Thus, the transnational character of knowledge and practices is noticeable here. Meanwhile, it should be emphasised that many people employed in the BPO and SSC sector do not only play the role of an employee but also of a parent, and they try to combine both of them. The aim of this article is an attempt to answer the following research questions: what is the employment structure in the Polish BPO and SSC sector in the context of parenthood, and what activities concerning diversity management are targeted at employed parents so as to make it easier for them to play the role of a parent and an employee. The results presented in this article are based on secondary sources of information as well as primary ones. (original abstract)

Content available remote Understanding and Defining Diversity Management in Polish Organizations
80%
Although diversity management as a concept and a term is being used since the 1980's, it does not have one clear, unambiguous definition. The multiplicity of diversity and diversity management's definition exists and is being used in the academic debate but also in business practice. The main issues addressed in this paper are how Polish organizations define and understand diversity management and what consequences it may bring for practitioners but also for the academic debate. The paper presents results of 20 telephone-depth-interviews, which were conducted with representatives from companies, signatories of the Polish Diversity Charter in January and February 2017. The conducted research showed that only a few organizations have developed their own diversity management definitions. Some of the organizations conflated diversity management with other approaches like antidiscrimination, equal employment opportunities or affirmative actions. At the same time other organizations took over already existing definitions without adapting them to their specific needs. Some organizations did not conceptualize diversity management at all. Content available remote Diversity in the Perspective of Economic and Humanistic Management
80%
The issue of diversity is becoming an increasingly important matter for many organizations. Many researchers, when defining diversity, refer to its primary (gender, a specific ethnic group, race, age, mental and physical capabilities and characteristics) and secondary (education, family status, work style, work experience, military experience, place and role in the organization, income level and communication style) dimension. The paper's objective is to present two approaches to diversity represented by economic and humanistic management. While the economic paradigm aims at maximizing the company's profits, the aim of humanistic management is greater Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Therefore, in the perspective of economic management, diversity is treated mainly as a source of competitive advantage. In the perspective of humanistic management it is respect for human dignity. The paper is of theoretical nature. The research method applied in the paper is a review of the literature relating to humanistic and economic approaches in the arena of management and the literature relating diversity management.
