Przedmiotem rozważań autora jest lokalizacja i rozwój miasta Cieszyna, układ infrastruktury technicznej transportu w odniesieniu do realizacji funkcji tranzytowych, rejony ciążenia komunikacyjnego do Cieszyna oraz rozwój małego ruchu granicznego. Autor udowadnia, że z punktu widzenia struktury przestrzennej, Cieszyn pełni funkcję węzła tranzytowego i centrum komunikacyjnego pogranicza śląsko-morawskiego.
Being a border town, Cieszyn, located at the mouth of the Morav Gate, on the river Olza, fulfils important intergation functions. The town has a population of about 39,000. Five railway lines meet there, three of them in the area of Czech Cieszyn. Over 25 million passengers and nearly 3 million vehicles cross three frontier crossings every year. The range of influence of these streams is highly diversified and extends as far as Italy. The problem of cargo transport, mainly by means of cars - articulated lorries with numbers plates from all central and western European countries, looks similar. Integration functions are performed in close connection with traffic arrangement in the town, whose infrastructure is not fully prepared to let so many cars through. (original abstract)
