W artykule omówiono zagadnienia dotyczące zakresu przedmiotowego, sposobu kontroli oraz oceny przewozów i przewoźników wykonywanych przez gminę Katowice jako ustawowego realizatora zadania własnego w zakresie lokalnego transportu zbiorowego na swoim terenie.

The commune of Katowice is a member of the Municipal Transport Union of Upper Silesia Industry Region (KZK GOP) realizing the function of public transport board at the territory of GOP. Such solution defines the subject range, means of control and assessment of transport services and carriers realized by the commune of Katowice as statutory executor of its own tasks in the field of local public transport at its territory. The problems mentioned above are presented in the paper formulating them in the following points: -statutory duties of the local municipality in the field of control and assessment of its own tasks performance at the Katowice City, -the tasks of commune resulting from its attachment to KZK GOP, -organizational structures of commune executing functions of control and assessment of transport services and carriers.
