The paper discusses the issue of being aware of varied forms of saving surplus resources. This is based on surveys conducted among Polish and American students. First, various differentiated behaviours as per saving and investing were analyzed. Next, existing differences in this respect in both countries were checked. The perceivable differences were deemed to be due to social economic conditions of both countries. Stated behaviours in the area of saving and its interrelationship with other variables were also analyzed. The last part of the paper is devoted to reducing variables using the factor analysis in order to expose common elements connected with a given form of saving. (original abstract)
