Abstrakty
Zaprezentowano teorie konwergencji/ dywergencji regionalnej. Omówiono czynniki powodujące zróżnicowanie regionalne. Przedstawiono przesłanki stosowania i umocowania prawne polityki regionalnej, która jako czynnik zewnętrzny może stymulować rozwój gospodarczy i przyczynić się do zmniejszenia różnic między regionami.
The paper is devoted to the notion of regional divergence and convergence and the regional policy perceived as the exogenous factor of the regional development. As we know the disparities between the EU regions still persist. Many economists have been analysing the processes of integration that take place in Europe and tried to answer the question how those processes influence reduction of regional differences. Conclusions, however, are not so obvious. One can assume that even these differences are still present, the convergence has continued. It is long-term phenomenon, which enables regions to diminish existing differences and develop. With implementation of the EU regional policy and use of the Structural Funds the regions can improve their situation and faster both economic and social cohesion. (original abstract)
