This paper focuses on the interplay between corporate social responsibility (CSR), future time perspective (FTP), altruism and affective attitudes. It questions the view that older workers are likely to be more responsive to CSR, as reflected by their greater satisfaction and organizational commitment, than their younger counterparts. We posit that CSR might address the values that need not be related to one's age, meaning that the actual issue is not the dichotomy between those with a limited and expansive FTP and, by implication, between older and younger individuals, but the one between those with strong and weak altruistic convictions. We found that altruistic convictions moderated the relationships between CSR and satisfaction, and between CSR and commitment. It also turned out that FTP did not moderate the relationship between CSR and satisfaction and that it moderated the relationship between CSR and commitment. The study deepens our understanding of the mechanisms underlying employee responsiveness to CSR in the context of an ageing workforce, thereby contributing to the literature on CSR and age management.
