The knowledge-based economy is gaining in importance and is establishing a new framework for modern organizational management theory. Knowledge is a critical organizational resource that ensures a sustainable competitive advantage in a competitive and dynamic economy. The success of knowledge-based companies depends not only on a proper understanding of the importance of knowledge management, but also on comprehension of how internal mechanisms operate within individual knowledge teams. Considering the strategic importance of teams within a knowledge-based organization, the paper aims to identify the set of key determinants effecting team performance. The established goal determines the structure of the article, which de facto is divided into two comprehensive parts. The first part consists of an overview of literature focusing on various factors influencing team performance. The second part is dedicated to an empirical study exploring factors that are crucial to knowledge team performance. For the purpose of the paper, a single case study was selected. This is because research strategy is perceived as being extremely valuable when the subject of the investigation is known only briefly. The results of the study reveal that not all the factors determining team performance are equally important. (original abstract)
Najważniejsze to czynniki związane sensu stricto z funkcjonowaniem zespołu w organizacji. (abstrakt oryginalny)
