The burnout syndrome, its causes and its development as well as its diagnosis, treatment and prevention has been the object of many inquiries and surveys both psychological as well as medical since the distant past. The current definitions and theories define it as a psychosomatic illness that is the result of continuous long lasting exposure to socio-interactive stressors in the environment, where the individual undergoes self-realization. This article deals with the description of the determinants of this syndrome, it characterizes the different stages of the burnout process, the signals and the symptoms of this syndrome arising in the working environment. This article presents the results and lessons learned in the diagnosis of this burnout syndrome in the managerial profession. It was created within the VEGA 1/0662/15 project. (original abstract)
