W okresie międzywojennym Wielkopolska przyczyniła się przede wszystkim do rozwoju sektora publicznego ubezpieczeń, dobrej kondycji polskiego prywatnego sektora ubezpieczeń (ale niestety dotyczyło to wyłącznie poznańskich zakładów ubezpieczeń), a ponadto odegrała dominującą rolę w zakresie ubezpieczeń życiowych.(abstrakt oryginalny)

The history of Insurance in Wielkopolska region as well as in whole territory of Poland in the interwar period was closely connected with social- economic and political situation of the state. It was the period of rebuilding of the State, then the period of development, the period of economic de- pression and whereafter the period of successful economic situation. In that time the basie role in Insurance industry performed public Insurance establishments, especially those from Poznań which operated in life Insurance. In the interwar period Wielkopolska region re- ached the highest level of development in Poland in the field of Insurance, and Poznań, with its universities, has grown as the centrum of Polish Insurance ideas and science. The Second World War has braked Insurance activity. On the territories which were included to the Reich (Wielkopolska and Pomerania region), Polish insurance companies were closed down or took over by the authorities of the invader. After the Second World War the period of political and social changes took place, and according to these changes, the liquidation of all private insurance companies both joint stock and mutual.(original abstract)
