The Recent Wave of Financial Crises in the World: Tanative Conclusions for Poland
Języki publikacji
Abstrakty
The financial crisis observed at present in Russia, the persistent recession and new slumps threatening the Far East region, and the symptoms of growing financial troubles in some Latin American countries, as well as the reminiscence of the recent monetary shocks in Hungary and the Czech Republic, seem to convey many important lessons for Poland. Thanks to conducting consistently its long-term economic strategy Poland has succeeded so far to avoid difficulties at a scale comparable to the mentioned events, but now it enters a new stage of its development path on which it will be heavily exposed to risks of that kind. The analysis of causes of the difficulties recently observed in so many countries leads to the conclusion that emphasizes the need of maintaining fundamental conditions of macroeconomic equilibrium both in its internal and extermal aspects, but also the need of an increased vigilance relative to the conditions of stability of the banking sector. It is argued that the possibly early introduction of the Polish Zloty into the European Monetary System contrary to the prevailing opinions - would be helpful in obtaining those aims.
