Methods for Reducing Residential Housing Construction Costs

Autorzy podjęli się próby usystematyzowania zagadnień związanych z budownictwem mieszkaniowym. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono działaniom mającym na celu obniżenie kosztów budownictwa mieszkaniowego. Autorzy przedstawili możliwości i uwarunkowania potanienia budowy domów i wybór realnych rozwiązań.
The authors look at a dozen or so factors reducing the costs of residential housing construction. These include: the standards of flats, the system of construction work, the principle factors constituting the investment/design process, the scale of construction, the construction cycle, the system of construction financing. Savings should also be sought with regard to the exploitation of residential housing. Besides estimating the impact, in percentage terms, of each of the above factors on the cost of building flats, the authors identify, in each case, entities which should undertake measures aimed at implementing a savings regime. Another means of reducing the cost of residential housing construction should - in the opinion of the authors - be sought in other fields of expertise, beyond construction itself: urban planning, architecture, environmental protection, civil engineering, and power engineering. The authors assign particular significance to the disciplines of organisation and economics. If the cost of residential construction is to be reduced effectively, this sector of the construction industry should be subject to interdisciplinary and comprehensive examination.
