Legal Regulations Concerning the Organization of Drivers' Working Time in the European Union and in the USA - Comparison of Solutions in Chronological and Conceptual Terms

Proper organization of the driver's working time is of increasing importance in the era of growing competitiveness and searching for ways to better use the resources. Various concepts and solutions should be analyzed, looking for proven panacea adequate to current needs and conditions. Therefore, the purpose of the article is to identify the basic similarities and differences in the field of evaluation of legal norms associated with the working time of professional drivers in relation to the legislation of the European Union, Poland and the United States of America. The study compares changes linked with professional activity that took place within the European Union, Poland and the USA in a chronological manner. The article is based on the analysis of formal and legal documents and normative acts applicable in the area described, functioning within the legal system of the EU, Poland and the USA. The article presents the basic legal acts and formal rules determining the organization of the professional drivers' working system. This study is an element of research related to the development of a PhD dissertation, thus constituting the basis for further research and reflection in the discussed area. (original abstract)
