Dwadzieścia pięć lat działalności Wydziału Ekonomicznego znaczyć może i mało, i dużo. Niewiele, gdy chodzi o chronologię, sporo jednak jeśli lata te traktować będziemy jako miarę autentycznej aktywności pracowników i ich dorobku. Dwadzieścia pięć lat bowiem w życiu człowieka dorosłego, który związał swe losy z nauką i kształceniem, stanowi przecież dużą część jego praktycznej działalności.(fragment tekstu)

Three periods may be clearly distinguished in the past history of the Economy Department: 1965-75, 1976-86 and 1987-90 The first decade may be characterized by teaching and organization processes. The Economy Department acquired powers to confer university degrees and started to organize scholary research. First numbers (5) of the economy section " Annales' were printed and first students graduated from our department at that time. During the second decade we may stress the appearance of new young scholars, further development of teaching metchods and techniques and scholarly research at our department. Apart from that, the fact that we obtained our own building was a very important integration and stabilization factor. During the third decade we can speak about publishing many qualifying thesis and other scholarly papers. The promotion of our young staff members and professors from other centres who came to work at our department enabled our Department Council to exercise powers to qualify for assistant-professorship. The first qualifying thesis of our graduates can be estimated as the greatest achievement of that period. All these things were responsible for further development of scholarly research and gave basis for stabilization of our Department. Here a few numbers can be presented. In 1965 20 academic teachers (and only assistant professors among them) worked at the Economy Department. In 1990 in February, 116 academic teachers worked here (8 professors and 10 assistant professors among them). The teaching activity started in 1965/66 and concerned only one speciality - agricultural economics with 61 students. In 1989/1990 there were 5 specializations: agricultural economics, food administration economics, labour and welfare policy economics, management and administration. 1750 students studied at our department at that time. Besides, 720 m2 of our premises in 1975 changed into 3160 m2 in 1988. We do not expect great changes in the nearest future. Our aim is to consolidate and improve things representative of our department today. The most important problem, however, is to work out and realize in practice a new teaching programme that would take into account our new reality and adequately prepare our students for their work.(original abstract)
